Building a Relationship NPS Program
A one-off NPS survey gives you a snapshot. A relationship NPS program turns it into a trend line your leadership can actually track and act on. Here's a structure that holds up over time.
1. Set a recurring cadence
Quarterly is standard for a relationship-level NPS survey - frequent enough to catch a real shift, infrequent enough to avoid survey fatigue in a metric that's meant to move slowly.
2. Sample consistently
Survey the same eligible population each wave - for example, customers active in the past 90 days - so period-over-period comparisons are measuring the same thing, not a different slice of your base each time.
3. Route detractors to a real follow-up
Use a webhook to alert the account owner the moment a Detractor response comes in - closing the loop on a low score is what separates a program that improves loyalty from one that just measures it.
4. Build one executive view
Track the score alongside Promoter, Passive, and Detractor mix over time, using our NPS Calculator, so leadership sees direction, not just the current number.
5. Report the same way every quarter
A consistent format - same segments, same comparison period, same chart style - makes each quarter's read faster and makes real change easier to spot.
